Mar Cor Purification requested testing of the anti-virus activity of Minncare Cold Sterilant chemical formulation by outside laboratories.

The tests were conducted using three different viruses of interest. The effect of the Minncare Cold Sterilant chemistry on poliovirus was tested because of the relative difficulty of inactivating poliovirus. Minncare’s efficacy with human coronavirus was tested due to its similarity with the SARS virus. Finally, the efficacy of Minncare with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was tested.
Test Objectives
Poliovirus
To determine the virucidal efficacy of the Minncare Cold Sterilant chemistry on an inanimate environmental surface when in contact with poliovirus Type 2 for a 20 minute exposure time in the presence of 5% organic soil load.
Human coronavirus
To determine the virucidal efficacy of the Minncare Cold Sterilant chemistry on an inanimate environmental surface when in contact with human coronavirus for a 5 minute exposure time in the presence of 5% organic soil load.
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
To determine the virucidal efficacy of the Minncare Cold Sterilant chemistry on an inanimate environmental surface when in contact with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) for a 3 minute exposure in the presence of 5% organic soil load.

Summary of Results
The test results show that Minncare Cold Sterilant exhibits virucidal efficacy when tested in the conditions described above. The specific test results are shown below.
Poliovirus
The results of the test with poliovirus with 5% soil load are shown in Table 1. The virus control titer was 4.5 log10. Infectivity was not detected in the virus/disinfectant mixture. No cytotoxicity was detected (</=0.5 log10).="0.5" The (non-virucidal concentration disinfectant), indicates that disinfectant neutralized at < Considering both toxicity and neutralization control results, reduction in virus titer was greater than or equal to 4.0 log10. Under the prescribed test conditions, Minncare Cold Sterilant demonstrated complete inactivation of poliovirus type 2.< P>
Human coronavirus
The results of the test with two lots of Minncare Cold Sterilant exposed to human coronavirus for 5 minutes with 5% soil load are shown in Table 2. Under the prescribed test conditions, Minncare Cold Sterilant demonstrated complete inactivation of P human coronavirus.<>
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
The results of the test with HIV-1 with 5% soil load are shown in Table 3. The virus control titer was 7.2 log10. Infectivity was not detected in the virus/disinfectant mixture at any dilution tested. Toxicity was detected (4.2 log10). Considering toxicity results, the reduction in virus titer was greater than or equal to 3.0 log10. Under the prescribed test conditions, Minncare Cold Sterilant demonstrated virucidal activity under the test conditions.
