Company background
Created in 2000, Wehrle Environmental is the UK operating division for Wehrle Umwelt GmbH. Since our founding we have achieved a great deal. Our unique brand of quality engineering and customer care has led to us supplying nine turn key plants in the UK and ROI food, dairy and waste industries.
We belong to a global partnership, and as such, we have the benefit of experience gained from supplying integrated multidisciplinary services in the United States, Europe and the Far East. But we are also a local company, and our highly trained team of engineers and technicians understand the environmental needs of UK and ROI businesses. Our customers now include some of the biggest UK household names, as well as leading waste management companies.
Process
Wehrle has over 15 years experience and more than 100 operating plants utilising Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology for the treatment of industrial effluent and landfill leachate. An MBR is a biological treatment process which uses activated sludge for the degradation of COD, NH4-N and other organic compounds. Solids separation is carried out using an ultrafiltration (UF) membrane, leaving treated effluent free of suspended solids. Based on a cross flow UF system, the Wehrle MBR allows a modular approach to be taken in the design of an effluent treatment plant.
With increasing energy costs to industrial users Wehrle also focus on the new low energy MBR system, designed to keep operation costs to a minimum while still providing BAT approved wastewater treatment.
